On to Salzburg and the Golden Crone. It's in the heart of Salzburg's old town on a heavily travelled cobblstone pedestrian street - but not pedestrian only. After some difficulty, we called and had them help us navigate to the place. I honestly thought there was no way vehicles would be permitted on that street so we drove around it. There we hooked up with our Sound of Music tour. Oh boy. Lots of interesting facts, touring of sites both factual and movie. The Crone was nice also, but parking was very bad, almost a mile away, cost extra and it was very, very small with no a/c.
Next up was on to Munich. We stopped in at allroundrent, got our luggage and returned Carol's borrowed helmet. It seems the 2nd bmw was returned to them the previous day, with no known failure cause. We left there and headed for Hotel am Viktualienmarkt. Close to Marienplatz, the market, and the trains to the airport. No a/c, and parking was again quite difficult. Here we toured some Munich sites, and I tried a lot of different brews of beer; hefeweizen mostly, because it was quite warm. When we got to Marienplatz they were setting up for some concert. We left wondering "Who is Chris Street?"
Not exactly; more precisely it's "Christopher Street" and it's a festival celebrated in several European cities. It's a gay pride celebration. Let's say that it was entertaining for all. There were folks of all persuasions, participants and spectators. Wouldn't you know we'd end up in the middle of this...
